I began my PLAID writing and publishing journey in 2001, when I reflected on the critical roles that my parents and teachers had on my life and, of course, the critical roles they
play in the lives of children everywhere. The anxiety and loneliness that can come over children during difficult times during childhood can have devastating and sometimes lifelong effects if they are not addressed. I collaborated with my talented aunt,
Patricia Field, an artist and teacher, to create a character to help children understand that even during challenging times, they must know that they are not alone. I enjoyed publishing PLAID: A Tale of Compassion so much that I wrote and publsihed my
second book, PLAID: A Tale of Joy, in 2004. I had a wonderful time with these two books, as they celebrated friendship. Over the next few years I wrote two more books, Happy Birthday, Plaid! A Tale of Sharing and Plaid: A Tale of Love, creating a series
that, together, would weave beautifully into pre-K through early elementary school character education curriculums. I am thrilled to have my hardback treasury available, as I have been working toward the goal of publishing it for quite some time. I thank
you for helping to let people know about PLAID. Over the years I have had so many parents share stories about how much their children love and relate to PLAID. I have had teachers and psychologists use the stories to help explain concepts like compassion and
sharing to children. PLAID has been to many schools, libraries, book stores and events and he is just getting going! I hope that my new treasury inspires, comforts and teaches children everywhere for many generations!
